SSZone - SSCC Down Time

I am sure everyone knows, but the SSCC server went down a little after midnight Thursday night. Freakmonger and Admiral Kirk should have everything all worked out on Monday, June 16th, 2008.

"The servers hard drive began developing bad sectors sometime late Wednesday, most of Thursday was spent feverishly trying to backup all of our zone data, Friday morning at 12:30AM the drive fully took a crap and stopped working.

Thankfully the backup was 98% successful. We lost a few inconsequential files and two somewhat important alias databases. However all the zone files and config files were saved. The host is currently replacing the harddrive and loading a new install of Server 2003.

The very minute I get the word that its back up and running I will be re uploading all of our data and re-installing all of our software. I estimate it should take about 3-4 hours to get running again, once they give me said word.

If for some reason they cant make the new harddrive work or I have serious problems reinstalling our software, it might be possible that SSCC will be down for the weekend, but barring any major catastrophe we should be back up by Monday at the latest, hopefully today.

Also, anyone who has looked at a calender, will note that today is Friday, 13th. Ill just put that out their and let you make your own assumptions ^^"

"O boy..where do I start

First off guys, I apologize. The SSCC Server has been down since Friday and will be down until Monday around 2pm EST (at the latest hopefully)

Here is what happened:

We had a bad sector in the Hard Drive (kirk noticed about 600 HD errors in the last 6 hours the server was online, both of us were getting backups of the zones during this time also). So when I got home Friday the server had already died. I contacted the Hosting Company and they tried all they could but no luck.

So they kick started us a NEW server. Kirk was in the process of uploading / getting everything back to normal when he noticed our Serv-U installer had a Trojan in it. So we had to get the Hosting Company to re-format.

So the issue is being worked on and we expect to have a new server up and running by Monday afternoon. However, in light of all of this I will be contacting the zone owners with some new guidelines to zone hosting.

Again I apologize for the inconvience but you can use this time wisely and get outside"
